The conventional laparoscopic surgeries are done using different sizes of trocars e.g.5 mm and 10-12 mm which allows to use 5 mm size hand instruments and 10-12 mm size hand instruments respectively.

The laparoscopic surgery with conventional sized trocars are done routinely. Hypothetically the recovery with even less pain can be achieved if we use trocars with less diameters and minimize the incisions.

To perform mini port surgery, trocars and hand instruments are available in 3 to 5 mm in size.

Advantages of mini port surgeries

  • Less tissue trauma
  • Faster recovery with very less pain and discomfort
  • Very negligible scars

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is mini port surgery necessary?

As keyhole surgery incisions heal more quickly than larger incisions and lead to fewer complications, recovery times tend to be shorter than for other types of surgery. Due to this, surgeons may recommend this type of surgery when it is an option.
